Merryn, St
The church of St Merryn is an ancient building in the Gothic style, partly constructed of trap or basalt stone of the locality, and consists of chancel, nave, aisles, north and south porches and an embattled western tower, with pinnacles, containing 6 bells: the monuments include one as a memorial to Colonel Peter, d. Jan. 1753: the font formerly in this church , a reduced facsimile of that at Bodmin, is now in the church of St Macra, at Maker; the font in use was removed from the ruined church of St Constantine in this parish; there are 320 sittings. The register dates form the year 1688.
